We are launching a Poverty Truth Commission

28th May 2019

Can you believe, we have been running Epsom & Ewell foodbank for nearly 7 years? We have now fed 18,000 people – including over 7,000 children.

About 18 months ago we started to explore how can we turn the tide and begin to explore the roots of poverty in our community, is there a way to create an exit plan for the foodbank? Why is there a need for a foodbank in Surrey, one of the richest communities in the country?

We are launching the East Surrey Poverty Truth Commission (PTC) on June 4th to begin this work. It is a challenging project bringing together many different people talking about their lives.

The PTC runs on the maxim of ‘Anything about us, without us, is not for us!’ We want to begin to change how people see poverty in our community.

If you would like to know more, please come to our launch event. Tickets are free but please book in using this link.

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
