The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of foodbanks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Thirteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year we gave 1,332,952 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.
We have had an amazing response to our Christmas appeal with an overwhelming amount of food donated. We are still finding that the permanent collection bins in many supermarkets are refilling as quickly as we can empty them.
Over the next few weeks we are hoping for monetary donations instead of food and sundries.
While much of what we need to be able to operate is free – volunteer hours and donated food – other things such as diesel in the vans so that we can deliver the food to our centres, and the red paper, ink and stamps we use to print and send out the foodbank vouchers are not. These are all things essential to the running of our Foodbank and the supporting of local people in crisis.
However you choose to support the Foodbank please know that we really couldn’t do it without you.
